Sewing & Quilting
Join us at the Volunteer Center on Tuesdays each month as we begin working on the nap-time quilts for the pre-K children who don't have blankets for nap-time. In 2011, we distributed over 150 quilts to 3 and 4 year olds who didn't have a blanket for nap-time. Recipient students attend public schools county-wide.

Steering Committee Meetings
The S.T.A.R.S.' Steering Committee generally meets the first Wednesday morning of each month at S.T.A.R.S. Volunteer Center at West Oaks Mall in Ocoee, FL. For more information, contact us.

S.T.A.R.S. Annual Quilt Drawing - April 30, 2013
Each year S.T.A.R.S. has a drawing for a quilt. The 2012 quilt has been assembled and we are hand-quilting it. The pattern is "Log Cabin." Each year a quilt is donated by the Sew 'n' Sews.. The quilt is machine pieced and hand quilted. Proceeds will be used to support the program.
The 2005 quilt (pictured at right) was 108"x108" (king size) and named "Star Light, Star Bright" as a result of it's patchwork of stars. The 2006 quilt was called "Confetti" because of the multi-colored tiny patches. The 2007 quilt was a "Flying Geese" pattern and 2008's quilt was a "Trip Around the World" design. We were unable to put together a quilt for 2009, but the 2010 quilt, Magic Triangles, was an artistic creation in blacks and whites. In 2011 a Log Cabin quilt that featured appliqued leaves was the prize.. S.T.A.R.S.' Sew'n'Sews will begin working on the 2013 quilt in the fall.!

If you would like to help with the next quilt please contact us. We will be quilting in the Volunteer Center at various times throughout the year.
